First and foremost, Renee Warzecha in the Sales Office is remarkable! She is a true professional. She is kind, courteous and does whatever possible to assist the current owners. All of the problems are beyond her control and not related to her position in sales.
These are our experiences with this builder.
When we purchased a D.R. Horton house in Crown Point Indiana, we understood this builder is by far a custom builder, but we expected more than the nonsense we received and overpaid for. On closing day in January 2022, the house was incomplete. Drywall looked like Swiss Cheese (patches throughout the house), unfinished paintwork, missing trim, cabinet doors damaged, debris in most heat registers, Lally columns appeared to be an afterthought, drywall around every receptacle was damaged, tile floor in master bath popping up, furnace filter was so dirty air could not get through it, doors were dented & scratched, sump pump placed in wrong location, daylight was seen through the 1/2 inch x 4 ft. long gap between the foundation and siding in the garage (everything froze in the garage at -5 degrees), exterior aluminum soffit/fascia is cold roll and wavy, dust, dirt & paint embedded into the high quality vinyl flooring (LOL) no, not quality at all in our opinion. Please note, some of these items have been fixed, but of course in the process of repairs, something else was damaged i.e., dented flooring, front porch paint spill, cabinet trim damaged, and silica dust floating throughout the house after sub-contractors sanded the basement floor without using water.
Fast forward one week, I was repairing the Swiss Cheese walls when one of the DR Horton workers comes walking into our home unannounced at 7:30pm! The programmable lock was never reset as they said it was and he just used his code to walk in!
Now 6 month later, ongoing issues still need repair/attention. We were told we had a temporary driveway but now the Superintendent says its the final product, there is an issue with the back patio and water will eventually leak into the basement, front porch damaged by their painter, master shower leaking for 4 weeks and their sub-contractor covered up mold with globs of mud instead of removing it, shower insert scratched with the multiple attempts to repair leak and now they say the no caulk shower (Kohler Sterling Ensemble Vikrell Shower) needs to be caulked on all panels (not according to Kohler but they are throwing a hail mary) and the list goes on. Too much to list. We cut some of the losses because it's not worth it.
Met with M.B. of Warranty Division and he has not responded since our meeting over a week ago when he clearly stated he would get a recap of our meeting to us the next day. I sent a text message asking about the status, no response.
In the interim, I asked for several items such as exterior caulk so I could correctly seal the siding, exterior door paint to cover the paint splatter from the gallon of paint dropped on the front porch by their sub-contractor, the removal of metal trim on siding so that I can stain the front porch - fixing their mistake and a couple other minor requests and nothing! Crickets! Not a peep!
I have only scratched the surface of the issues and our experiences.
At this point it appears they really do not care about the customer.
