Walkability: Close to downtown restaurants and bars and within 30 minutes of several distilleries.

You walk into a gorgeous and stunning lobby. Then you go to your room and are taken back in time. It smells like Grandma's house and she loves her cigarettes. There was a cigarette burn in our curtains. The bed was lopsided. Great for being close to Buffalo Trace Distillery. Couldn't ask for a better location. The room, on the other hand, was disappointing. It reminded me of a road side motel from my childhood.

Weve been to Buffalo Trace several times, but weve always stayed in or near Lexington. We decided to stay local this time and chose Capital Plaza Hotel. Its about 4 min from Buffalo Trace. Not only was it conveniently located, Frankfort downtown is filled with many shops, food, breweries and historical homes. The hotel offers free breakfast (traditional free breakfast) and an indoor pool. The scenery when you enter is a beautiful waterfall. Staff was very kind and helpful. Strongly recommended The Brown Barrel Restaurant. Amazing fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce, tots appetizer and chef salad. Well be staying at Capital Plaza and having dinner at The Brown Barrel next visit.
