I really try and avoid being this kind of person, but there are some things I need to say about my stay at Hunter Hill. Ive been renting from them for a few years with no issue. In April I came to them about potentially leaving before my lease was up, but leaving at the end of it regardless of what I decided in the short term. They charge 2 months rent in addition to the rent you already pay for the month in order to leave early. A payment of almost $4000 to leave. I decided that I was going to do the right thing and wait out my lease, and return my keys when the lease ended. I received nothing in email, written form, or verbal about a renewal. I was very clear when speaking to them that I was in fact leaving. When I ask about when I should return my keys, as my initial lease began halfway through August, I was told that they had already automatically renewed my lease, and that if I wanted to leave when my lease was up, I would again be facing a $4000 buy out. For leaving when I was supposed to. Ive been renting from them for 2 years. Never missed a payment, never had a late payment. Never submitted a lot of tickets for repair. I was told that there was nothing they or the company could do. You truly are just a number to these people. The fact that they refused to handle this internally is absolutely absurd. I have to get an attorney involved in order to do anything about this. Run far, far away from this company. They will do whatever they can to shake you down and empty your pockets. Theyre crooks. Grifters Update: Maryland Managements collection agency has contacted me twice in the time since I left. The first call, Im told that instead of the original buyout, I owe $14,000 instead. When I say there is no way and there must be a mistake, within 2 seconds Im told oh yeah, I see the buyout now. She also says that she was unsure if I wanted to do the buyout, or try to have someone take over the lease as the apartment was still vacant. I didnt know that was an option, and called Rebecca to see if that was something I could still entertain. Within a month or two, I get a phone call demanding an additional $2300. When I ask about this, Im told that they didnt have to abide by the buyout that they said they had locked in for me. That there was nothing legally binding them to honor their agreement. When I ask for the camera footage from Hunter Hills leasing office, Im told I have to contact Hunter Hill. When I reach out to Hunter Hill, they tell me I have to go through MMC as Im no longer a resident. I keep getting passed off in hopes I will let up about the footage. Im also told they cannot send me audio recordings of our phone calls, as nothing is recorded from them. Do not believe anything these people say. $3000 went to $14,000 before they decided to make it $5000. To then be told they can do whatever they want. They will refuse to turn over any evidence that does not work in their favor.
