First off, we were referred to Charis from a friend that recommended we use them. They said their Aunt used them and she was very particular about her property (normally will find anything and everything to complain about). Their Aunt raved about the amazing job Charis did on her roof. So we got a quote from Charis (and 3 other roofing companies that were recommended).
Charis did an amazing job with our roof (Back when we lived off Tick Neck near Edwin Raynor). They replaced the needed wood panels, installed architect rated shingles, and even fixed issues with our gutters (without charging for the gutters they installed newer angled nails rather than re-seating the older straight nail system that was failing). They were very professional, had great attention to detail, and they were much better priced than any other company we got quotes from. We didn't find a single nail or piece of shingle on the ground around the house after they were done. They kept us in the loop on when materials were going to show up and when they were coming out to do the work. I 100% plan to use them again next time I need roof work. Purchased a home that came with a roofing certificate from this company. After the first heavy rain we discovered a leak in the mud room bathroom. This was caused by a baseball sized hole in our roof towards the back of the house. Long story short, this company doesnt like to call individuals back. I called three times over the course of a month, spoke with a receptionist that informed me someone would follow up, and nothing. Not a single follow up phone call. Our roof is still leaking. If you need roof repair, best choose someone who knows how to operate a phone
Look at how they response to reviews. They that lack professionalism, accountability, tact, and empathy. What a joke of a company. Stay far far away.

I am not one to write reviews but wanted to save other homeowners the potential hassle in working with Dave Wandel and Charis Contractors. We had our roof replaced by Charis in April of 2016, and the roof is/has already leaked in two locations. One of the issues was apparent immediately after they completed the installation, causing buckets of water to come into the house. Dave came to assess the roof and issue, and mentioned that he would be back to fix it what he thought the issue was but he or any of his crew never came back. I had to remove 5 sheets of water damaged drywall and install a temporary funnel system to capture the the leaking water into two 5 gallon buckets. The ultimate issue was repaired by another company after they determined the shingles were improperly installed in at least this particular section of roof. To be clear, I emailed and called Charis at least two more times after Dave's "assessment", as I wanted to give them a chance to repair the issue given I was and still am under warranty. Since then the roof has developed leaks across a different 4ft x 8ft piece of sheathing that Charis had replaced during the original install. I have called and emailed the company 2 more times this year and have yet to receive a call back or response via email to at least acknowledge the situation or offer a solution. Given my 4 year ordeal in dealing with Charis, I have no choice but to rate the workmanship as very poor and the responsiveness as non-existent. Please call a different company to do your roof!!
