My wife and I were very pleased with Avatar Construction for our dormer addition. Nazar our account manager was thoughtful and asked the right questions during the design and pre construction phases. Brian our project manager worked diligently to coordinate the sub contractors to get the project completed as quickly as possible. We were living in the house during the construction, and everyone was courteous and thoughtful of our privacy. We have recommended Avatar to a few of our friends and neighbors, and would work with them again on any future projects. Service: Remodeling

Avatar rebuilt my entire home. They demolished and rebuilt the entire 1st floor and added a 2nd floor. We had amazing connection with their designer. The operations manager/owner was very innovating and found great substitutes when supplies were limited because of COVID. The superintendent was very detail oriented and committed to addressing our needs. All the sub contractors were very professional and respectful. Avatar held true to the proposal and finished the project on-time. Any extra costs were because of added work of our choice at market or less than market prices. We now have our dream home!! We know we made the best choice going with Avatar. We do not think we would have stayed within our budget if we went with a competitor. We strongly recommend choosing Avatar for your next project. Steer clear of this organization. We contracted with Avatar Construction Corporation for an efficiency apartment addition during the fall of 2017. We were promised construction would begin in November 2017 and would take approximately 60 business days to complete. We were made to feel confident in our choice of contractor, signed the contract and made the initial deposit as required. The city then asked for changes to be made to the drawings before they would issue a permit. We asked Nazar to make the necessary changes to comply but he did not. Due to Nazars reluctance to work with the city officials to make the necessary changes the permit was not granted until May 2018. But he did charge us over and above the contract for the trips made to talk to the zoning board, notify the abutters and for the building permit, all of which were already included in the contract. The addition still wasnt ready in November of 2018. At that time the roof already leaked, water was bubbling up from the floor in the great room due to a leak in the shower caused by the plumber nicking a gasket in the shower assembly, there were cracks in the walls in every room, the finished flooring was uneven, the installation of the moulding was horrendous, there were outlets that didnt work or were installed upside down, the sliding glass door screen never worked properly and daylight could be seen while looking down the upper track. The decks were substandard; they didnt regrade the yard. In addition, there were also wiring issues/fire hazards. A portion of the wiring was laid directly on top of a hot water pipe which resulted in the insulation melting before we caught it. Nazar demanded an additional $2,800 to repair the leaking roof because he thought it was beyond the scope of the project. We had lost all confidence in Nazar, Brian and the Avatar team. We hired an outside contractor to repair the roof leak. When the external contractor started the roof repair he immediately found the source of the problem: it had never been flashed. Not flashed properly--not flashed AT ALL. We eventually were forced into arbitration then the pandemic hit. It was finally settled earlier this year. The arbitrator found in our favor and Avatar was ordered to pay a little more than $13,000 to cover repairs and improper invoicing for items which had already been covered in the contract.

I found Avatar helpful and fare on their costs and any change orders we have had. I was always respectfully approached with design or engineering issues that came up. I was provided a few options with costs ahead of time which I appreciate, I dont like surprises. One thing that stood out the most was how levelheaded all managers were, and never showed one bit of attitude to me. Overall good design and building company I would recommend to anyone.
