After having a bad experience at Canine Couture, I went to Somerset Grooming in Bloomfield Hills because a neighbor recommended them. Ive been going there for about 18 months. My dog has been groomed by several of the groomers there, and I have been very happy. They are very kind and loving with the dogs. It always amazes me to see all the dogs so calm while being groomed when Im there. The place isnt frenzied; the dogs arent agitated and acting like they just want to get out of there like Ive seen at other grooming shops. I think that speaks to how the dogs are treated while they groom them. Oh! That reminds me. My own dog pulls me into the shop when I take him out of my car to go there. I take that as a very positive sign, as hes not frightened or traumatized to go there. They often add a special touch with a neck scarf for no charge. If theres something youre concerned about, just tell them. Ive found them to be very accommodating. And if theres something youd like corrected, they try to make it right. Once I thought a couple of my dogs nails werent cut enough, and they immediately fixed it. I have a Cavachon with a curly coat and prone to mating, but there are several ways we can keep it. Vanessa and I have talked about it, and she has ideas on some things she wants to try so we can keep his coat longer, especially during the winter. My dog doesnt like me to brush him, but he doesnt seem to mind when she does. Im sure its because her technique is much better than mine!
