We have had MEC fiber optic internet service since June, 2020. Our township (Lyndon) voted to install our own fiber optic internet infrastructure using tax funding. It has been a godsend, we had a VERY expensive Verizon hotspot before that and had very low limits and lots of slowdown after limit was reached.. Our internet has been reliable, fast and very affordable. We can stream video and use the wifi service all throughout our large home. I highly recommend MEC.

(Was) Not pleased at this point with the service reliability. Issues with technicians at our home are another story.. Currently without internet for 12+ hours with no ETA for service restoration. This happened last week and our router was replaced, solving the problem for less than a week. My confidence in MEC to provide quality service is dwindling with each additional interaction I have with them. Update: They're rolling out some self-install units to remedy the outage, we're at about 2+ days out now but I'm thankful there is a silver lining. The updates were late but have been initiated via phone and email and I appreciate that. Ty is a good dude for phone support. I hate to hate on this company, I wanna like MEC, but it's difficult. I'm raising the star rating a little due to this communication and look forward to service restoration tomorrow. Also, I was comped $100 for the mud incident at my house. I'm on ACP so I won't see the credit until my Pell Grant expires, but I look forward to using that credit in the future. MEC also says they are going to discount our service due to the outage. Fingers crossed. Update II: Got the new router and self-installed. The provisions for my SSID weren't automatic as the paperwork stated but I reprogrammed that part myself. Also the new (old) router has 4 antennas vs the white one I'm returning having 6, so the signal to my pole barn isn't as strong, but it's okay considering I have connectivity now. We're back up and live. Most staff have been pleasant and courteous from the beginning of the outage until now. I added a star back. Time will show, more stars could come back. Thank you for fixing the issue.

We were having some internet speed problems in our home, so I was looking at some options online. I happened across a video from MEC for their fiber service about a mesh network. I called the Tecumseh location and got connected with Ty. He was able to make some changes in our existing routers settings and our speeds increased dramatically! He was also able to get the second router ordered and shipped out to us, so even though we have better coverage after the adjustments, the speeds will be faster all around the house. Really great help and friendly service!! The speeds have been pretty solid for the most part. There have been a few times we had trouble, but that may have been because of the settings that Ty just recently changed. I think the only negative I can think of is that sometimes outages aren't communicated until really late. Seems like that's really due to the larger ISP who provides to MEC not communicating well, so in my mind you can't fault MEC for that.
