Is the expo a luxury apartment building? Yes and No. in a nutshell, great property, not so great management.
Good things 1) I’m very pleased with my 2bed 2bath layout. I do wish the layout included a separate soaking tub in the Master Bath. 2) The views of downtown are fantastic. 3. The amenities are great. 4) management is generally responsive, however issues are not always resolved.
The bad: 1) the building design makes the pool area super windy pretty much all the time and dangerous with high winds as Loungers and umbrellas have flown into the pool. 2)electric car charging is now a ridiculous $850 install for your own charger (extra $500 at Tesla) and $100/month with $350 to uninstall. Up the street, Nordhaus is $20-$50/month as of today). 3) Humidity in my unit is running 65-75% this summer- management is unable to resolve. Healthy rate is under 50%. Other residents report similar issues and other HVAC issues including loud vibrations. 4) only 2 guests are allowed to amenities unless you have “prior written permission”. Management didn’t respond to my prior one written request. 5) Wristbands are checked at the pool as if we are children at an amusement park (even if it’s just 2 of us 50 year olds) Pool is quiet and dull. Instead of Country and Celine Dion, they should allow people to fairly queue up music and then play it so it can be heard 6) I haven’t personally experienced discrimination; however, I have witnessed management treating some residents differently than others. 7) 24/7 concierge/security seems to mean accessible via phone or voicemail and not a manned front desk. Concierge staff when there has been rude to my arriving guests. One even bent down and tapped my food dish at the pool to verify it was plastic as they apparently didn’t believe me (during covid). 8) maintenance seems to have slacked off since manager Joe left. Especially garbage room cleaning. 9) there have been 3 events this year, two featuring Costco chips and hotdogs which isn’t my thing. Expo is not being managed as a luxury property we are the children and they are the adults.I would like to see a third party management company vs the Doran owned team. Stop spending funds on things that are reactionary to one off incidents that penalize everyone. Focus on a high class concierge and management team that treat residents and guests with respect and is not over reactive or defensive.

This place is insane. I absolutely love having friends over for drinks and sitting anywhere and everywhere with a view. The entire pool terrace feels like I’m at a resort on vacation. I’ve never had nicer amenities than Expo. I love the fact that everything is brand new. Neighbors are so friendly and outgoing. 10/10 vibes all around. Come see for yourself

Love, love, love the property! High end apartment living at its finest! Awesome amenities and lots to do and explore in the surrounding area. Most importantly the team there is so amazing! Huge shout out to Alison, Ali, Steph, Morgan, and anyone else I may have missed! Keep up the good work!

After touring 16 different apartment property complexes in the downtown and near-downtown Minneapolis area, we came across Expo, built in 2020, and has both a high-rise tower and mid-rise building (including townhomes) connected by common areas/amenities and underground parking. Our first impression of our leasing agent, Morgan, was that she was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and attuned to our needs. The amenities in this complex are by far, the most extensive and well-appointed of anything we saw elsewhere. The pool deck, various lounges (which are great as co-working or entertainment spaces), and even the lobbies, are welcoming spaces. The apartment itself (pictured), is in the mid-rise building, and has premium appliances, and really nice, modern touches in its design, and is spacious, despite many new builds trending toward smaller. The leasing, management, concierge, and maintenance staff, however, are what have made our move and settling into our apartment the best part. Every single person we have dealt with has been superior to any other community we've lived in. They're really proactive with communication to residents, too, which is really appreciated.
