For years we have been a family that worked with the quality testing of the town water. Since the town did work on my road I have had a 'haunting ghost' sound throughout my house whenever I run the water. The first time a person came by he replaced the guys of my water meter (owned by the utility) with used parts. After several months the noise started again. The next time they came out to repair it, they charged me. Couldn't understand why I was paying to repair equipment they own. The sound came back a year later and when I called they told me they would charge me again to repair their equipment or I could pay to install a new meter still owned by the utility. I told them that was crazy that I should be charged for their problem. I was told they would get back in touch to see what they could do. 7 months later I am still waiting.
Since we have had elevated pfoa counts in our water, my family now buys our drinking water that I should be able to get from my town water utility. Their rates have skyrocketed and the quality of the water and their service has plummeted.
I imagine my recourse would be to contact my town leaders or my lawyer to make this utility pay for the repairs of their property.
