image Stayed here last night. A bit expensive. The room was 7/10. Hot tub was broken. Pool was super cold and dirty. Continental breakfast wasn't continental.. they have a breakfast server and a menu with few options (collecting tips). My Kids didn't want the biscuits and gravy. Those are not not huge issues, but they charge $10 extra per kid. It felt like a scam. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and have never been charged extra at check in for my 2 kids under 10.

image Our overall experience was just - Meh.
The actual room, itself, was pretty average and fairly clean. Although, my kids did find rogue candies on the floor.
But, if I'm honest, I was kind of disappointed. Not the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, but not the best.
My family really looks forward to a few key things when we stay at a hotel - especially one over $120 a night. We like a good swimming pool and hot tub, a clean room and hot shower, and a good Continental Breakfast.
As soon as we checked in the attendant said that because I had children with me, and didn't not include that on my reservation, there would be an additional fee. No where on the app, was there an option to include children and I had always thought children under 16 were free? But, whatever... We were already there.
We went to our room and it was pretty average. A bit musty, but not terrible and fairly clean (with the exception of random candy on the floor - we didn't bring food or candy in with us).
We were excited to swim and I was looking forward to the hot tub. Unfortunately, the pool was super cold and the hot tub was out of order. I had read the reviews and someone else had mentioned the hot tub was not working - 2 months ago - I guess I'd just assumed that would have been something fixed already?
We went back to our room and showered. The shower was ok, but I am not a fan of the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispenser. They didn't work very well and the shampoo was out. I could have asked for it to be filled, but I was already in there.
Ok, so not off to the best start, but I was hopeful about the advertised Continental Breakfast.
It was a rough sleeping night, but I was up early to grab some breakfast with my son, while my husband and daughter slept in. We have stayed at other Best Westerns and my son loves the continental breakfast - especially the Belgian Waffles.
UNFORTUNATELY...
One of the things I enjoy most about Continental Breakfast at hotels - and will specifically book hotels with a good breakfast option - is being left alone to my own glutinous whims. I like making my own waffles and grabbing some eggs, bacon and a hot coffee and pouring on the butter and syrup and a yummy hot gooey goodness mess to eat. I like to just enjoy a good breakfast that I didn't have to make, and just sit, watch the news and feel comfortable. NOT HERE! There was an attendant that had the breakfast area roped off so she could serve items and only a few things were available on the "menu". It wasn't waffle day!!!
Now, the attendant was very friendly and kind but there was an expectation of leaving a tip. Which, if I were expecting that, I would have been prepared with cash. But I wasn't expecting to need cash at a hotel and I was in my jammies ready to stretch out my jammy pants. :( Just very disappointing! And both of my picky eaters were looking forward to the waffles, too, and they had to settle for a tiny muffin.
Our whole point of going to this hotel was to swim and eat and we got a bit pootched in both departments.
At checkout the attendant asked how was my stay and I was honest. She asked if I wanted to speak to a manager and I said sure.
I wasn't going to complain about all of the other ways I was disappointed, but for the price I was paying, I could not understand my extra fee.
The manager insisted it was because I had my husband with me. And I told her that, that was not what the night attendant said. She said my children were why they charged more. We went around in circles and I showed her my Priceline itinerary shows 2 adults. I really was not trying to be a Karen here, but I don't like surprise charges, especially when it didn't show that anywhere when I booked. Every other Best Western I've ever stayed at I booked 2 adults and our kids have been free.
Anywho, she said she'd refund the additional fee. BUT as of today there is a charge not a refund on my account.
Insert canned "apology" from Nancy P below. I won't be back here.
Just go to Comfort Inn in Edgewood!
