I would like to start this by saying out of any apartment I have every lived in I have never NEVER felt less at home then at 1000 west. From day one on move in day they were 4 hours late to giving us our keys because they went to lunch even after a scheduled move in. Then came the maintenance issues. The door handle to the master bed room broke of and we got trapped in multiple times after countless requests to get it fixed and 4 MONTHS of waiting they half fixed it only for it to break soon after once again. The management truly do not care about there residents and will find every single possible way to charge you extra money on top of rent. The grounds are filthy covered in dog poop trash and litter that is very rarely ever cleaned. Out of the hear i lives there the pool was always closed except for a whopping 4 months.Management also is either never there or don't answer phone calls so unless you can go down to the office you cannot speak to them. Don't be like us do not settle for this place I garentee you can do better for less money and headaches. (The management has been repeatedly calling my personal number since this review was posted even after directly telling them not to contact that number)

I'll say the most important thing first. Don't believe them when they present these apartments as Luxury, they are not. I've lived in section 8 housing with better tenant care. The office seemed to always be open, but you were more likely to find a tenant or maintenance worker. The main office manager was rude, and almost never at the office. The woman who was usually there was incredibly kind, and tried to be helpful, but rarely actually knew what to do. She was also over an hour late to our lease signing, and when she got there she said no one was supposed to move in that day. That should've been a huge red flag on day one. Between all the rules, the disaster of a parking situation, the maintenance/renovation issues, pet problems, and inflated costs, living here was a massive disappointment. We lived in a three bedroom apartment, which in theory, might only need one, maybe two parking spots. The problem with this is that when you charge over $2000 for 950 sq ft and have to have four adults in the apartment to be able to afford the price, you need four parking spots. If you have the unfortunate luck to work non-traditional hours, you'll also have to walk a few hundred feet to get home, because there's not enough parking. On top of this months after our lease began we were told to register with a parking company, which was nowhere in our lease. At this point, I didn't think it could get worse, and it did. It turns out this apartment complex is partnered with the scummiest, most expensive, 35 minutes away towing place. The office told us it was the closest towing place to the apartment but it isn't even in Charleston! The price gouging going on there is absolutely insane. On top of this, we had a friend over who parked in the far back overflow lot, who's vehicle was towed before he tried to leave our apartment at 9pm. He had been on the property for less than five hours. When we spoke to the office, they told us they would contact the towing place and try to help, since his car was illegally towed. When they arrived at the towing place, the office had not reached out in any context, despite directly telling us they would. He was charged over $200 for an illegal tow. We decided to sacrifice space in order to live somewhere nicer. Instead, we paid $2400 to live in a less than 1000 sq ft apartment with four people that was supposed to be luxury, and recently renovated. I will admit, the brand new appliances are nice until your sink falls apart and your bedroom door handle falls off. Our first maintenance call took over two weeks to be fixed, even though it took one screw and five minutes, except the door handle immediately fell back off. When our sink fell out of the frame, maintenance came quickly, which was nice, but he also told me that all of the renovations were done cheaply and sloppily. Also, our patio door would not remain closed unless it was locked, which we told them when we moved in, and they ignored. Along with a scuff on the floor, marked with tape, that should have been fixed before we moved into the luxury apartment. When we got approved for move in we were told rent was $2200, yet when we came in to sign the lease, surprise! There's $200 more worth of fees. We paid for the pool, which was never open, pest control that we never saw, and didn't work, and valet trash that was incredibly inconvenient because of all the regulations. I'd rather have a dumpster outside and dump my own trash instead of paying for a service that's only convenient sometimes. The pool was closed all summer, just to reopen when it got cold. The dog situation is absolutely out of control. There are dogs barking all hours of the day and night, echoed by the hardwood floors. There's dog poop in every patch of grass which is honestly disgusting, and despite their regular threats it never got better. The case on our fire extinguisher was broken during a storm and never replaced, trash left everywhere in the breezeway. They only care how the apartments look from the outside.
