Cheatham Street Flats

This property lives up to its name - "CHEATHAM" Upon first glance, "CHEATHAM" promises an inviting and comfortable living space, well-situated in San Marcos. The exterior and public areas present a well-maintained faade that initially impressed us. However, appearances can be misleading. Once inside the actual living spaces, the sheen quickly fades. The apartments, while functional, are hampered by outdated appliances, contributing to a sense of neglect. This issue alone could be overlooked if not for the building's management, which compounds the problem significantly. The community manager, ostensibly responsible for addressing residents' needs and maintaining the building's standards, is notably absent from daily operations. Instead, the management relies heavily on students with limited customer service experience. These students, while perhaps well-meaning, are inadequately equipped to handle residents' concerns effectively. The manager's constant unavailability, always "in a meeting," creates a void of leadership that has led to a frustrating living experience. Issues that require attention remain unresolved, not due to the complexity of the problems, but due to a clear abdication of responsibility from the management. This lack of accessible and competent leadership has directly impacted the quality of life here, making even minor issues a challenge to resolve. In conclusion, while "CHEATHAM" might captivate potential tenants with its charming exterior and prime location, the reality of inhabiting these premises is significantly compromised by substandard management and outdated amenities. Moreover, I sincerely advocate that Texas State University reassess its endorsement of this property as a recommended living space for its community. It is a disservice to students and faculty alike to promote a facility where the quality of management and living conditions falls so remarkably short of acceptable standards. I would advise potential residents to seek accommodation elsewhere.

Dont rent from this property. They have rats from non disposal of trash . The security gate was inoperable and not repaired for over a year . Its a really horrible management !

Daughter just moved in. After she killed the roaches and cleaned out her own AC filter that was so black it stunk... Her efficiency looks great! She's on the wait-list for $100 garage parking per month, so until then she has to park out in the street and walk quite far and fast in the dark by woods and homeless people. We're beside ourselves. Yes, she's in a gated community, but she had to carry mace until she gets in. I never knew this place existed until now. I want my daughter to be happy and safe. This has been the best place so far in San Marcos!

Probably the most aweful experience Ive had in any living in San Marcos. The fire alarm goes off at any time of day or night for no apparent reason and the complex doesnt not care what so ever. The hot water is good then its not. Elevators are disgusting as well as the cleaning they do before you love into a unit I was doing basic cleaning after I moved in and the fridge still had some liquid from the last tenant the glass oven too has food stuck all in the cracks of it my bedroom floor has white patches against the walls which I think is paint from never doing the job right first. My dryer was never worked on or fixed until after a month and a half of me living here after I put in multiple request. This place is aweful just do not do it. Oh ALSO THERE IS ZERO PARKING LIKE ALWAYS

Coming into this 23-24 year lease of staying at a new apartment which would be called cheatham st flats here in San Marcos Texas, I was really excited! Ive been in San Marcos ever since I was a freshmen and I never had any problems w my living situation and was looking forward to being back in a dorm style apartment. It pains me to say but that was the total opposite for cheatham st flats.starting off w about 1 month into the lease a fire alarm went off for about 10 min which was a reoccurring problem at this apartment at anytime of the day with one of them being at 6am in the morning! Then not personally seeing any rats but my father noticing rat traps in the vicinity and someone posting they saw a rat in the GroupMe thru their ring doorbell. I got a parking spot which was a lil overpriced but no big deal on the price but my spot had a parking stopper which was too close to the driveway and had my car sticking out further than everyone elses and never got fixed even after I put in a request for them to fix it so no one would hit my car accidentally. Then recently was the worst experience I have ever had in my life!!!!!! I had literally just blew my nose and threw maybe at most two pieces of toilet paper in the toilet. Which somehow didnt flush all the way down but went down the drain slowly and I noticed so I put in a maintenance order, thinking that they would see I was unable to use my toilet they would help me asap like they did the first time. Come home and somehow my toilet is about halfway full of toilet water and other particles came up too. I didnt flush it or touch it and went to bed hoping they fix it the next day. To be woken up by a dripping sound which sounded very odd to me I look over my bed to see a big black spot in my carpet!!!!!!! Where the damn toilet water leaked all the way towards my bed. Messing up some of my clothes, shoes, handbag, and backpack. I had to leave the apt to sleep at a friends for the night, when I literally had an 8am the next morning!! Overall I would not recommend cheatham st flats to anybody that would love to have a great residential living experience. Coming into this I was excited to live in a 1 building residential community but am saddened to say I was dumb for wanting to be nostalgic. Cheatham st flats was a horrible choice for me on my senior year here at Texas state university. Please do not choose cheatham st flats no hard feeling but just please do better!!
