I went to have my hair done for my graduate school graduation, and Brittany, the Elite Stylist described on the website, wasn't really skillful with my hair. I kindly asked her to fix my hair as the braid on my left side looked so unbalanced to the one on the right side. Also, the final outcome of my hair looked more like bridal hair with a huge fancy bun, and I had to tell her that was not my expectation. I had told her that I wanted more of a casual look for my graduation from the very beginning.
Not having my desired look was not an issue at all. It can happen at any time, right? But when I tried to ask her to fix my hair in the kindest manner possible, Brittany didn't seem to listen to me at all. And at the end, she asked me, " So, what language do you speak? I will bring someone who can translate for you." I was shocked at her response but tried to be calm and told her it was not the right way to handle my complaint. (And of course, I don't have any problem communicating in English)
The store manager(Anthony) came to me and told me that there was nothing wrong with Brittany's reaction. The store manager had a big smile on his face while dealing with this situation. I knew there was nothing I could do when I saw the manager's reaction.
I emailed the Ulta Corporate Customer Service Center but did not hear any response. Now I know no one at Ulta takes this kind of discrimination seriously.
I want them to be more educated and sensible on the topic of discrimination because it is simply not the right thing to do.

Reminder for all current and future clients though - hair is often a PROCESS and a COST, so be realistic and be patient! No one goes from black box color to platinum in one, two, or even three sessions! And for the love of hair, treat yourself to nice products!
