Kinetic Dance Academy

Kinetic is a great local dance studio with both adult and kid classes. The adult classes were actually adults and not just me and a bunch of teens which was great. I've been a ballroom dancer for years and have done zumba and pole before. The classes here were a real workout and did teach me a lot of technique. Unfortunately my schedule is such that I just couldn't commit to the way they do their program. After trying three classes for $30, I was then shown the package/price options and honestly? Really reasonably priced for what you get and I would have paid in a heartbeat.Unfortunately, they just don't have enough later classes. They also force you to do either ballet or jazz. I wasn't feeling either of those but really liked their hip hop class and LOVED their contemporary class. Their program is structured around two classes a week with a set schedule(one elective and one standard)  by season where as my ballroom schedule changes monthly so I couldn't block off two nights on the days my work schedule allows me to do something after work (and a lot of their options start at 4 and I work til 4:30). It's a total bummer but if you don't have any other conflicting commitments, this really is a fabulous studio. Would totally enroll a kid here as well. I was treated kindly and the teachers were great. If I'm able to go back in the future, I'd definitely consider it.

This place is phenomenal! I shared my concern about having sensory issues due to my Neurodivergence and the instructor met me before class to tell me how I could exit if I felt uncomfortable at any time. She did this UNPROMPTED. She also told me it wouldnt count against me, and I could take another class. I have never had anyone be so understanding and kind to me. Just being considered for an issue most people deem as odd or inconvenient was so empowering for me. That simple act of kindness made me feel accepted and comfortable in a setting that would normally make me feel like climbing the walls to escape. Despite my normally intense fear of groups and rejection, I am actually excited to go back to class. The class itself was fun and informative. The instructor was well informed, patient, and seemed to enjoy her job. I wish I could rate this place higher honestly.

A hundred stars for the gem that is KDA. We love this studio and every single person who works here. My tween daughter enrolled about a year ago, shy and awkward, with very little dance experience (besides a brief but awful stint with a studio in downtown Oly that was highly impersonal and treated the kids poorly) and it has changed her life in so many ways. KDA is the most warm, welcoming community and they truly care about the entire dancer, not just the skills they bring to the table (but make no mistake, they are highly effective at teaching their craft!) All of the young teachers are awesome role models and there is nowhere I feel more comfortable leaving my tween, which is great considering how much time she spends there-- it really has become a second home. Her confidence and entire demeanor has changed dramatically for the better, and I can't believe the level of skill she has developed in just a year. Most importantly, she has become an all around happier and more joyful kid. She is treated like family, as are all their dancers, and she has developed deep friendships. They really take a holistic approach that is body positive, nurturing, and extremely effective at building skilled, happy dancers. I really hope KDA continues to grow and guide as many dancers as possible.As an aside, I don't dance so I can't speak to the adult classes, but they look super fun!
