True Fit College Counseling

Jensen is a wonderful college counselor and was such a good match for our daughter. She was calm, insightful and helped our daughter (and her parents!) navigate the college search process with so much patience and empathy. I loved that she spoke to my daughter as an equal, sharing her own personal experiences and validating my daughters worries and concerns in a very nonjudgmental way. My daughter felt so much personal responsibility and motivation from Jensen's positive and gentle guidance. I am so happy we had the opportunity to work with Jensen and I cannot recommend her enough!

PLEASE READ THIS! As of writing this review I am 18 years old and have just graduated high school, have hired True Fit College Counseling since I was 16 and I am attending an R1 university in southern California this fall. If you're reading this you're probably a parent looking for someone to get your kid into college. That's certainly why my parents hired Mary Pat from True Fit College Counseling. Mary Pat broke down the college application process into easy to understand steps that helped me to understand what it actually meant to apply to college. She helped me edit my essays, fine-tune my experiences into stories and information that made my application stand out to the colleges I applied to, prepare for before-dreaded standardized tests, and somehow let me lead the journey throughout the entire process. She has years of experience and is truly someone who has "seen-it-all." Her pricing is hourly and reasonable; I had a better experience with my college counselor than, and I can't stress this enough, ANY of my friends, and my parents paid the most reasonable amount possible. Please don't pay $10K for a fresh-out-of-college associate from a company who claims they will get your child into an Ivy League School and has no idea what they are doing. I've seen it far too many times and none of those kids are going to Ivy's. But that's the boring part. I cannot speak on any other employees of True Fit College Counseling as I only worked with Mary Pat ONeil, but Mary Pat is so much more than just a "college counselor." When I saw her for the first time I was confused and worried about my future. Her step-by-step process and the interactive nature of her counseling made me realize what I was capable of and allowed me to stop telling myself that I wasn't good enough. If you want someone who will not only unlock tools, connections, and methods to help your child OWN the college application process but also arm them with knowledge that they can use to unlock opportunities for them at every level of your life, True Fit College Counseling is THE place to go. I pursued leadership positions with Mary Pat's guidence, and I became elected to be one of three drum majors of a 300-person marching band. They are going to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this fall and will perform in front of millions of people. I was the vice president of a club at my high school that had almost ceased to exist; with the leadership team we built, we turned a breakfast-club, resume-padding club into a true drug-awareness mission that reached into every classroom at my high school. Don't listen to companies claiming that THEY WILL get your kid into Harvard, Columbia, or Stanford. I say that not because your child isn't capable of shooting high in life, but because the secret to your child's success in the college application process and in life lies within themselves. So get over your attitude about prestige and big-name schools; and if those places do in fact lie in your child's future, THIS is the path to getting there. There are very few people who have empowered me to chase my aspirations like Mary Pat, and every human being on earth deserves to have a mentor like her. I would not be where I am today in life if it were not for Mary Pat ONeil and True Fit College Counseling. Your child is capable of things you can't even imagine.

Mary Pat was extremely helpful in my applications for medical school. As someone who is very good at rambling, I desperately needed guidance to help me clear the cobwebs of my writing. Medical school application essays are daunting and critical for acceptance. She helped my application become more articulate, concise, and authentic. I was also very impressed with her background. She has helped all kinds of students achieve great heights for many years. So, I really appreciated having someone who has edited thousands of essays in my corner. Most of all, I felt like Mary Pat truly cared for me and for my success. That is why I recommend her to anyone looking for guidance in undergraduate or graduate applications.

Mary Pat is a terrific resource for students applying to college. She worked with my daughter on her personal essay, proving invaluable guidance during the challenging writing/applying process. She is also incredibly generous with her time, providing a series of college bootcamps for FREE through the Find Your Fit program at the Lake Washington Schools Foundation. We're lucky to have her!

My son worked with Jensen. He was a little late getting started, summer of his senior year. Here is what he had to say: Going into college applications I did not know anything about what to do. I had no clue about how to write essays/applications, and had very little knowledge on how to find the best fit school for myself. This lack of knowledge made the idea of applications very stressful at first, however, Jensen was able to help alleviate that by thoroughly explaining the confusing process of college applications. She helped make a list of schools that might be a good fit for myself based on my own interests/expectations, helped me get started on writing essays and helped edit my drafts while also answering any questions I had about the process. Thanks to her help I was able to get into my top-choice school so I would recommend her to anyone who also is nervous about/struggling with college applications... As a parent I cannot recommend Jensen and True Fit enough. I plan to use them for my younger son as well.
