In my opinion, Remax Professionals is a very deceptive term. Our troubles began when we made an offer and it was accepted for a house advertised for sale in Gillette. Just before closing, we were informed the house had an IRS lien on it. But we were also told it had been paid and we could move in, as the home was vacant, our home had sold and everything was in motion. We were also told the home will be settled in a few weeks when the IRS clears the paperwork for the lien and to go ahead and make the house our own, which we did in that guise. Frustratingly from that point on, our realtor had tried to get answers for us. However we were given very little information from the owner and her realtor. Only that now the lien was not paid, still in progress and we felt deceived and abandoned by them during the entire time. We figured out the home was in pre-foreclosure (which happened way before we put an offer in and that was never disclosed to us) and perhaps should never have been offered for sale due to the amount of money still owned on the lien and mortgage. Finally, after a few months of little communication and deception, we paid for an attorney. Only to have him tell us what we suspected, that the lien was not paid, the house is in pre-foreclosure, the mortgage had been sold and he believed the owner walked away from it. The whole situation handled very unprofessionally and unethically by the selling parties. We also spent a small fortune moving interstate and now with interest rates rising, we had to find another home and move again with that additional cost and anxiety of starting the process again. The way we had been treated was unforgivable. Not surprisingly, the home foreclosed on within a few days of us leaving. They were simply waiting for us to leave. I believe Remax Professionals knew most if not all this information from the beginning (or at the very least had to suspect it, but never divulged it). I would never trust Remax to thoroughly validate and vet a potential home for sale.
