The Drews were a pleasure to work with. On top of it, flexible, responsive and professional. They installed piers to support a patio area and around a pool. Would recommend them to anyone!

I hired Jack Drew and Soil Stability Construction to remove and existing tree planter and replace it with a new one with a very complex design. The work was done on time and on budget and with a great degree of professionalism. The crew was friendly and clean and easy to work with. I'd hire Jack and crew again in a second.

Soil Stability Construction did a five star job on our challenging retaining wall project on an extremely steep slope.  The job involved much heavy equipment - an excavator, a Bobcat, a large drilling rig (piers 20 feet deep), many many yards of cement, materials of all kinds (e.g., steel cages, lumber, Keystone blocks) delivered precisely when needed, many dumptruck loads of dirt hauled out - all on a narrow long driveway comprised of five switchbacks due to the steep terrain. SSC made sure all of the subcontractors and drivers were well informed of what to expect and how to navigate the sharp turns, so all went smoothly. (Some contractors had declined to bid, citing the difficulties in getting the equipment to the site.)Rick, the foreman, was here every day and kept us well informed each step of the way. He patiently and thoroughly answered all of our questions. Everything ran smoothly; we had a couple unexpected rains, and the site was well protected and work re-scheduled accordingly. Rick worked very well with the structural and geotechnical engineers, cooperating with all of their requests for access and photos, in order to assure that we received the sign-offs required to obtain the final permit approval from the County. The crew worked all day every day like a precision machine to get this complex job completed in a timely and very high quality manner. No music is allowed by management for safety reasons, and there were never any conflicts between workers, so aside from the power tools, the site was amazingly quiet in spite of a large team spread across our yard. (I've had the unfortunate experience of dealing with contractors where much cursing and yelling occurred, so this was a delightful change. Singing could even be heard from some of the SSC workers; what a contrast.)Although the job generated a tremendous amount of dirt and debris, the site was immaculately cleaned before they left, including power washing all the hard surfaces. We have never had such a pleasant experience with any type of contractor. They are the best of the best.

I highly recommend Jack Drew and his company Soil Stability Construction Inc. for any jobs within their specialties.  We experienced a landslide after 10-inches of rain over 3-days in December 2012.  It was an explosive slide involving roughly 130 tons of soil and debris that blocked a moderately trafficked private road below until it was cleared.  I retained Rex Upp from Upp Geotechnology (based on numerous recommendations) to do studies leading to specifications for repair.  He highly recommended Jack Drew for our job.  We had limited access for large earth moving equipment and wanted minimal disturbance and trauma to our lands.  They used a Bobcat for careful earth grading and hauling but did much of the work by hand including excavation of 2x4-feet holes for piers that were 18-feet deep.  They did this amazingly by climbing into and descending down the holes using power shovels.  They installed soldier pile retaining walls made with 25-ft, 6x12-inch steel I-beams and treated fir.  The job proceeded like clockwork and took 3-weeks as planned with a crew from 3 to 7 men.  They were very careful to protect our slate patio and walkway paving using tarps and plywood protection.  They went out of their way to be sure that we had the least disturbance possible from the work.  Rick the foreman was amazing as well as  the rest of crew.  They put in full days working effectively every day.  Rick is a master on the Bobcat in tight, steep quarters requiring precision control and he worked quickly in spite of his precision control.  The job involved clearing/hauling earth and other debris, grading earth benches to support the fill, installing filter fabric, installing a drain pipe downhill to a dispersion point, backfilling with drain rock, covering over the top with filter fabric, and adding 1-ft of soil, building small earthen berms to control/direct surface water into a catch basin connected to the drains, grading/contouring the land below the slide and seeding and covering with erosion control matting.  They even carefully graded our unpaved 200-ft driveway back to the work site to clean-up the tracks left and were willing to add work to cover the driveway with pea gravel.  Their work was very, very high quality with much attention to detail and exceeded our expectations.  Jack Drew makes it a point to check in regularly to assure quality and that we were happy with the progress.  Jack also worked in ways to keep the cost as low as possible.  It was the most pleasant experience we ever had in a construction project.  We recommend them highly!  We thank Jack Drew and his people very much!
