So we spontaneously looked for a motel because we wanted to visit Joshua Tree National Park and saw what there was. We ended up here because of the good reviews. The motel looks good from the outside, but I personally didn't think the room was nice. (It looked friendlier in the pictures). There was a plastic cup next to the bed that wasn't ours.
Positive:
- good location to Joshua Tree National Park
- Bed was clean
- got a room spontaneously
Negative:
- Garbage next to the bed
- very loud air conditioning/heating
- Bed was rock hard, as were the pillows
- Very loud because it was right on the big street
- Room smelled very musty
So guys, if you're really just looking for something to sleep in, that's really okay, but my gut feeling says that I don't want to come back. Maybe I'm just too demanding

Perfect location, clean rooms that are big and comfortable. The only problem is that our room's heater was so loud that we couldn't sleep so we had to turn it off and be cold.

We only stayed here one night, but we are very satisfied.
The room was clean and cozy. The view from the window was nice despite the street.
Each room has a garage right next to the room door, so the car can be parked in the shade.
The lady at the reception was nice and helpful.
The motel is great for visiting Joshua Tree Park. You don't have to drive far to visit the 49 Palms Oasis Trail, for example. The visitor center and northern entrance gate can also be reached within 5 or 15 minutes by car.
All in all, I highly recommend the El Rancho Dolores Motel.
Nearby activities: You can especially go hiking in the nearby national park.
Walkability: As is the case in America, 29 Palms is rather spread out. You can actually only get from the motel to the supermarket and visitor center by car
