This is my third time as a Riverview patient in my lifetime. Ive worked, hands on, with Greg in the past for a shoulder injury and a knee injury. Most recently I spent 5 sessions with Derek, to work on correcting my posture in order to alleviate early onset lower back pain due to sciatica. Derek was more than knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic. As far as the entire establishment - they all seem terrific. Never have more than two patients at one time and make sure to adhere to each patients needs whilst spending time to get to know their patients a bit more than the norm (which I think only helps in their ultimate care). Id give them 10 stars if I could.

I was very impressed with the level of knowledge of the therapists at Riverview Physical Therapy. I had a long-term hip and back problem which is doing much better after my sessions at Riverview. And I intend to keep up with the exercises they taught me.

Extremely happy with my care at Riverview Physical therapy! Greg was very kind and knowledgeable. He provided exercises that were effective and easy to do on my own. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone.

The people are nice but overall it wasn't a good use of my time or healthcare dollars. I was referred by my doctor for 6 weeks of PT for hip pain. Although the pelvic realignment was helpful the regular exercises did not cross over to daily functional activities. My ability to tolerate my normal home activities and work activities only decreased despite tolerating the PT exercises and doing them daily at home. When I asked about my lack of progress and whether I could potentially have a tear, the therapist minimized my pain, told me I wasn't in enough pain to suggest a tear or anything serious. I continued for four months with the exercises but had limited reassessments of range of motion (maybe once at most), functional abilities, and no gait analysis. I finally got an MRI showing severe degenerative changes, effusion, and labrum tear. During PT sessions, after 3 sets of exercises were fully completed, I was asked if I was okay but there was little supervision or corrections for exercises when being done.
I liked the therapist in many ways but felt her goals of therapy were not the same as mine.

Zen and the Art of Runner's Maintenance
If you're a runner, you're probably familiar with pain. Getting over it is a mental challenge, but getting good advice is even better. I agree with David Goggins on overcoming obstacles, but you don't have to suffer. Proper maintenance can carry you a lot further. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on perspectives, I started 2023 with a lucky lottery entry spot into the Chicago Marathon. I also started the year in chronic pain with insertional Achilles tendonitis. My first thought was to defer it. Persuaded by my runner's group to continue, I stayed on pretending to do my best David Goggins impersonation. As much as I could endure, I needed to figure out pain management. I had referrals to many talented PTs in the area. For me, Greg Knapton at Riverview Physical Therapy came away with the best. He excels in many areas, from postural restoration to rehab, but his expertise in the day-to-day running maintenance stands him apart from the others. Without his guidance, I wouldn't have been able to complete my training and finish this year's Chicago Marathon.
