image Nice rooms facing the water. Nice pool

image They get one star only because the rooms have recently been renovated and were clean, albeit without dressers, drawers and no place to put clothing. One had to live out of one's suitcase. Much worse is the staff; very young staff with obviously no hotel experience. Rude, insensitive and completely non-customer oriented.

image I am local to the area and was looking forward to a nice relaxing "get a way" with a friend from out of town. She and I both frequent hotels for business and don't expect perfection. She chose this one because she found a deal and it was near the water but far enough away from my home that I would feel like I too had "gotten away"- when she called to confirm 2 things from the booking web site - accessibility ( I'm a wheelchair user ) and price. She went through a phone system with blaring music ( only later to find out that "the guy" used his daughters iPod to create the on hold music so "we" have no control over the hold music)- the first call human answering the phone well after 5 minutes. The 2nd attempt yielded affirmations to both inquiries.
We arrived accessibility meant: take wheelchair through the side entrance, the owners Indian cuisine restaurant shaped like a hallway, straight into the area where they store luggage carts ALSO shaped like a narrow hallway. to try and find the hotel elevator masked by an ocean photo mural. All the while my friend was charged well in excess of the predetermined amount, the woman at the front desk let her know she would have to wait and speak to the manager who would most certainly call her later that day, she was due in at 3pm.( "Front Desk" : the half door a coat check person stands behind at a function or restaurant that still does that sort of thing. )
Jump forward to 6:45- no phone call from the "manager" but we DID have a drumming cacophony erupt. In the almost empty hotel we were put directly above the banquet hall and were lucky enough to enjoy the loud partying DJ and celebrating guests of weddings both nights. This went on until just before 11pm each night. NO warning from management
On our second day it took my friend 3 attempts to track down the "manager" to rectify the fiscal issues...she had many excuses and seemed to have some math issues as well. She asked my friend if it would be ok if she could only get her down to $3 more than the quote, it's the "best" she could do.
Advertised through 3rd party sites is "free breakfast" ....this should be interpreted ...."if you have packed it in your suitcase".
Some positive notes: location is close to some lovely water ( Not hard to find in coastal RI), there are many close options for good food in many price ranges. The lady charged with cleaning our room does a wonderful job, I wish she worked at a nicer hotel. The mattresses ( at least in our room) didn't suck.
About an hour and a half before check out the fire alarm sounded....we were on the second floor. If you recall and have made it through this novella I am a wheelchair user. I struggled down 2 flights of stairs ( because elevators do not work when fire alarms sound for safety reasons) while my friend dragged my wheelchair down the stairs with her. Once outside we waited about 4 minutes and were allowed back in. The ramp to get back inside was closed and locked. Thankfully I can hobble, which I did, up the stone steps and in to the foyer -No guard rails, which as a business owner in RI, I believe is a violation ( also to have the ONLY disabled access inaccessible a violatioon-----but thats quibbling right?!?!?)
Upon our departure a very energetic young man let us know he only "needed our room keys" to check out- again he saw the wheelchair-- we asked, "any chance the access to the wheelchair ramp is available?"......" ummm, no, the restaurant is still locked. HAVE A GREAT DAY!"....exit stage left. Some lovely other disillusioned guests assisted us leave the front steps and as we were exiting the other woman working in the coat room,er, at the front desk was obsessively spraying some air freshener which was either to remove faint smell of diesel left from the firemen or pungent smell of pot left from some guests. She smiled at me as I sat there in my chair and quickly pulled the door closed.
You should definitely stay there. Ask for room 211.....especially if they are hosting a wedding. It's all about the bass. ( yes, I went there)

image The room was falling apart around us. The bathroom door had L-Brackets holding it together, the vanity was falling off the wall, the tubs jets did not work. The heater blew cold air all night long and the walls are paper thin.

image Terrible customer service. Are the front desk staff even trained?? Extremely rude and had a different story or answer to my questions every time I called. Tried getting in touch with management multiple times and never got a call back and they were magically never there in person. Was charged for my extremely overpriced room before I even stayed there! Who does that? Hotel is under renovation, rooms are unfinished, and they still charge you full price. What the hell? DO NOT STAY HERE. Terrible experience. So disheartening considering this is my hometown and this hotel runs the monopoly in that area for its convenient location. I will be spreading the word to everyone I know from the area that is looking at this place as a venue for special events or just a simple stay to steer clear and head to the Hampton inn on route 1 in SK instead. SO disappointed.
