Well the bed was not a pillow top was very hard, the tub didn't drain very well, the TV stand drawer wouldn't stay closed, water faucet was slow to fill cups. Dissapointed with the room.

PLEASE READ: To prelude, I appreciate the ability to assess a brand based on reviews, both positive and negative, but I really dislike negative reviews that showcase petty issues that companies and organizations are more than willing to fix via personal messaging. In this case however, my experience is that in which I feel it is important to share in order for people to make an informed decision on where or not to stay at this particular hotel AND so that hopefully the company can make the necessary changes to invoke a secure and welcoming atmosphere. As a local resident, my only previous background with this hotel was from approximately 10 years ago when I attended a wedding reception that took place here. I did not spend the night during that visit, but at that time, it seemed to be a pleasant and bustling venue to hold such an event. Fast forward to my recent overnight stay that resulted from a hasty decision based on poor road conditions. My feelings towards the environment of the premises are negative enough for me to take the time to leave this review. As I finally took the time to read the reviews of the Ramada around 2am, while also listening from down the hall to two Rapid City police officers questioning witnesses and a victim of an assault that had occurred in the hotel about an hour before, I could hardly believe nor understand how there are recent positive reviews. What stands out is my lack of surprise upon hearing the assault that had awoken me abruptly even over the extremely loud and rattling heater in our room, because after making the impromtu reservation and upon our arrival on the premises earlier that evening, we made observations similar to other reviewers: local people hanging around behind the building dumpster, a police officer performing a scan opposite of where we had seen the others. There was another unofficial patrol vehicle with the driver speaking to a driver of an older SUV that entered the parking lot minutes after the police officer had exited the premises. We had to go to the Target store to grab a few things for our night stay and saw the older SUV from the hotel parking lot pull right in front of Target as we walked in. I stood in the entrance and stared at the vehicle until it drove away and fortunately did not see it again for the remainder of our stay. This may not be relevant information to some, although it heightened my suspicions as to the sketchiness of this hotel. A large portion of the hotel had no heat, which speaks to me of fiscal issues. I understand that the winter months bring in less revenue, but I believe there are more professional ways to work around seasonal highs and lows, such as sectioning off those areas that are not utilized in the off-season with strategically posted aesthetic signage. Upon our initial entrance into the hotel, I can't be certain because I had already tried my key card, but I observed the south entrance to be unlatched, and the same thing happened at the west entrance. This made me think that if I'm not mistaken on the two doors being slightly unlatched, that it is done intentionally for locals to gain access into the building. We observed people hanging out in the laundry room, who looked to be non-guests. I understand this can all be classified as speculation, however and as I wrote previously, all of these events led me to expect an incident such as the one that occurred early that morning. Again, I write all of this because I honestly felt like staying in this hotel put my children and myself in harm's way, and major changes must take place if the Ramada is to stay in business. The loud fan with the rattling, the glass walls that allow all sound to penetrate through, and the hair that was in our bathtub are all side notes to my overall experience. I will give proper dues here in writing to the RCPD officers for their quick response and professionalism to de-escalate and bring security to the situation.
