This facility here has been caring for my grandmother for about a year now. I am from Ohio and this is the first time i have been here to see my grandmother.
I think most of us have the same thoughts about how horrible it is to put our elderly loved ones in a home. And we try hard to deny this act as long as we can. In some cases it may be a good thing. In other cases it may be the best decision we could be making not just for us but for our loved ones as well.
My grandmother has dimentia for years. It caused her and our family a lot of stress because we did not understand the disease. Causing a lot of anger and tears towards our living situation. We fought as long as we could to keep her out of a home. But soon realized, it would be in her best interest if she had around the clock care.
This facility has completely changed my thoughts of how i thought a home would be. The staff here go above and beyond what is expected of them. They treat our loved ones like they were their own family. The facility does not look or feel like a facility, but more like a home. No matter what illness the patients here are still treated as normal human beings. They interact with everyone like they would with any normal person. Even if a person was deaf or could not speak, the staff would still sit there and speak with that patient normally. They say is because they want the patients to feel that they still matter. And always encourage us to do the same thing whether we get a response or not.
The other thing i noticed was the staff here are always on high alert. Any sound they hear no matter how soft it is they hear it and will check it out. Nothing would get pass them.
The thing i find most important is how much they care and really make it a personal thing not just a job. We would get updates everyday about our grandmother at all hours of the day. And they would always give their personal opinions on how they feel about what their patients need or want. They are so attentive and caring. They pay so much attention that i can say they know our loved ones better than we know them.
Putting our loved ones in a home is not horrible. The people here really care for them and make them feel at home and are loved. And the care that they provide is more than what we could ever do for them at home.
I highly recommend this facility.
