image We had a wonderful stay...the rooms were nice, beautiful view, and close to Devil's Lake State Park. It feel like a home away from home...looking forward to our next stay!

Jason, sure did like the "home away from home". Our favorite expression when repeat guests come thru the door is, you guessed it...WELCOME HOME !

image We stayed at this bed and breakfast for our anniversary. The room was great, very clean! The view was amazing in this home! Having breakfast outside while watching all the hummingbirds fly by was a great experience. The trails around the property were very nice also. The only complaints we had was that this place was not very welcoming. We got there to check in, rang the doorbell multiple times and were waiting outside for around ten minutes. That wasnt a huge deal but at other bed and breakfasts we were always greeted promptly. We came home from dinner at 10pm and the home was very dark. If it wasnt for the motion sensor lights at our feet we wouldve been stumbling though. A lamp or two on would do wonders. My husband also witnessed a little bit of bickering between the innkeepers, which was very awkward for him and made him uncomfortable. Also keep in mind that they have dogs, we did not know this before booking. We didnt mind at all but if you are allergic that would be a good thing to know. I was woken up around 6:30/6:45am to the dogs barking, chasing after a squirrel. Another thing to note is that breakfast will most likely be served late. They serve at 8am or 9am. We did chose 8am. We would receive our breakfast around 8:30 both days. This may bother travelers who are on a time crunch. Overall it is a beautiful house on a beautiful property but not quite worth the $470 a night.

Dallas, Sorry for the delay in responding to your comments. We are always extremely busy during the 4-5pm check-in hour. Vehicles parked at the front entrance means that we are in the process of getting other guests to their rooms and their questions answered. However, there is no excuse for you to wait outside for that long. We were also not made aware of this until your review. Regarding the lighting at 10 PM..... We are not sure why we did not have additional lights on at that time. We are glad to hear that the motion sensor lighting got you safely back to your room. Please note that our dogs only get to enter our private living quarters. We understand that some folks have allergies and they usually let us know in advance. Our trail guide dogs bring another fun element to the hiking experience. They are also responsible for keeping the critters away. We appreciate your comments about letting guests know about their role prior to booking. With respect to breakfast time, we are disappointed that you were not aware that we plate and serve a full course breakfast, allowing you one hour to enjoy your chosen seating. We will also accommodate our guests who have a specific time to depart. But we do not recall getting that request from you. We think of breakfast as a time to get to know other guests and so the morning hour is usually filled with conversation. Coffee, juices, fruit dishes and baked goods are enjoyed before the main breakfast entrée is served at 8:30 am. Lastly, we apologize for the apparent "bickering". We can't recall any specifics surrounding that incident. However, it is likely due to the fact, a day prior we had just returned from a family reunion vacation in Europe. We think jet lag combined with getting back to reality with our breakfast routine caused stress at the time. We hope that the 2 keepsake mugs you purchased will remind you of your weekend getaway. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and we regret we did not do so on this occasion. Thank you for expressing your concerns.
