I like the EVO Hotel, it is a fun idea. Access the the climbing gym and skating is very unique and I enjoyed it. However, the neighborhood is sad and bleak, very unappealing. Hopefully, with time, things will develop. They also decided to put a big metal sign up that blocks the mountain view from the upper rooms, very odd choice there. Now all you see from your room is the back of a rusty metal sign. It was handy to have the EVO store nearby, but the later opening hours make it hard to get a last minute purchase before heading off to the slopes, which kind of defeats the point. The selection had lots of discounts on size small and xxl, but very few in between. Sleep was a bit difficult. The AC unit makes an odd random hum, not the kind that you can fall asleep to. They must realize this because they leave earplugs on the counter, which was thoughtful. The bed was actually very comfortable, but the pillows were some of the worst I've tried. All lumpy feather pillows, no other options. The light coming in from outside was not blacked out and you can not turn off the very bright patio lights, so a sleep mask will be required if you are a light sleeper like me. The bathroom was very clean, but there is no shower door, so it it was a breezy shower. There was a water leak right about by room door that was making a nice puddle on the carpet and dripped on my head once as I was unlocking the door. Service was minimal, I've stayed at hostels with more service amenities. The coffee bar is pretty good but had no one attending it most times and walked by. There is a bar, not sure if they have food, also sparsely attended and usually closed. I requested a wake up call at 6:30 and didn't get it. Good thing I woke up to my phone alarm (was worried I wouldn't because the earplugs). The aesthetics are industrial/outdoors and could really use some color, art, and softer features. If you love rock climbing and skating, and loud rock music/parties until 10 pm, this is a fun place. If you want peace, quiet, and comfort, there are lots of better options.

The common areas are superb, the staff are friendly and helpful, and including the bouldering gym and yoga as part of the resort fee was totally worth it! Noteworthy details: bouldering gym and on-site yoga included in the resort fee

Do you like the outdoors? Do you wear a flat brimmed baseball cap, or a beanie (or do you find those tyoes if people attractive)? Do you climb? Skate? Like to drool over spendy MTBs and need a place to sleep? evohotel is for you. Did I mention there was a bar and coffee shop inside? As well as not one but TWO outdoor gear shops! (evo and L9) and an entire Bouldering Gym!!! Our room came with two day passes for the Boulder Project where I injured my pride and lost some skin bouldering with my (more skilled) daughter. All of the staff at all the businesses were young and friendly. We had some issues with the the TV and they came up and worked it out very quickly for us. Water pressure in the showers was great and the shower head is actually high enough on the wall that tall people can be under it w/o having to stoop. The neighborgood is... rustic. But old industrial neighborhoods are so hot right now, so you will feel extra hip. Security was present in the building and one guy parked on the street had his vwry nice mountain bike locked to his rack with a cable outside all night and it was still there in the morning, so that's a good sign about the safety of the neighborhood. Bewilder brewing is a mere 2 blocks away and had great beer.
