For $275 a night I expected better. Rooms were comfortable, clean, spacious. Most of them had a nice balcony and a partial ocean view. The breakfast however was a farce. They were fit for human consumption but not much more beyond that.. frozen reheated plasticky tasting eggs, frozen sausage, and of course the usual mash of glorified processed American cereals and breads. So if you get what you pay for, the free breakfast certainly fit the bill. In a plus side it was decently close to the beach (which I wasnt a fan of cos of all the pebbles on the sand) and close to the entrance of downtown Encinitas and good access to the shops and stores.

The room should NEVER be in that condition and if it is it should be closed to guest until it is resolved.
Bathroom has black mold growing on the shower tile. Shower head had green mold all over it. I didn't notice it until I was about to get in the shower. Fire sprinklers and ceiling in the bathroom were rusty. The view was the only decent part of the stay. Not being able to properly shower before heading to a work event was beyond upsetting. There was no way I was going to eat whatever breakfast they provided if they were ok with putting guests in a room with a bathroom that disgusting.
When checking out the person at the desk asked how my stay was. I was honest and he said well if you would've reported it we would have moved you.
1. If any bathroom looks like that one, they all do to some degree look like that.
2. I arrived close to 9 pm after along drive I didn't even turn the light on in the toilet/shower room. The main room looked decently clean very simple but seemed clean besides a chair with stains all over it. I changed and got ready for bed, triple checked all the doors were locked and fell asleep. I didn't see the condition of the shower until I turn the water on and looked up at the shower head. Because I was disgusted I started looking around and noticed all the mold immediately turned the shower off. At that point it's too late to change rooms.
The lack of concern from the staff and the hotel's apparent history of similar issues, as seen in other reviews, is worrying.
This isn't just about cleanlinessit's a health hazard. Since my stay, I've been dealing with headaches, which makes me wonder about the overall safety of the place.
Lesson learned: always check reviews and inspect the room thoroughly, no matter how late it is. I've never seen such a disgusting room before. I booked directly through the hotel's website without doing any research, and that was a big mistake.
Hopefully, my experience will help others avoid similar problems.
