image This is a pretty nice hotel as far as Marriott Courtyard's go. Clean and big rooms with lots of light. I got upgraded due to my Marriott status but I think most of the rooms have a similar window setup with blackout shades. I took off one star because of the noise factor, which you get from the metro station right across the street. If your room is on that side, you will absolutely need to use the earplugs the staff gives you. The train is noisy with its beeps and such, and there are homeless and younger folks just hanging/goofing around at all hours of the night. I am pretty sure I heard some gal and her man going at each other in an epic fight but I didn't go to the window to look. Also the rooms have hardwood/pergo type floors so if someone above you is wearing heels you will absolutely hear them walking around above you. You do the same to the folks below you. Once the earplugs were in, I slept great. The lobby is nice with a coffee bar that serves starbucks but isn't an actual starbucks, and they also have a good selection of snacks in the store area. The staff was really nice and it's a great location just a few blocks from the beach to take a walk to the pier and enjoy the weather when it's nice out. I'd definitely stay here again.

image Awesome hotel, really great staff -- Aaron and Jesse were especially awesome to us. I'd come here again in a heartbeat.
Why one star? The owners have allowed a labor situation to fester since at least Sept 2023 (writing on March 30, 2024). We were awakened at 7:00 a.m. to a cacophony of drums and bullhorn voices. At 10:44 a.m. it's still going on. I imagine it will continue all day there. There's no reason the owners couldn't have or can't resolve the situation.
Rooms: Rooms are spacious and well cleaned. The beds are comfy.
Nearby activities: The nearby protests were a massive bummer. Workers are protesting low wages and an unresponsive ownership group who ignored sexual harassment and injured worker claims. As a small-business owner myself, I can't imagine, as an owner, countenancing such poor treatment through inaction or silence. The ownership group needs to step up and resolve this.
Safety: We felt very safe and secure.
Walkability: So close to the beach! So close to shopping and site-seeing.
Food & drinks: Excellent food. Fresh, tasty, and awesome.

image Room was a great size and we were helped by Aaron Greer who gave us some nice tip on how to enjoy our stay in Santa Monica! 10/10 recommend visiting while he's working.
