Our daughter went 4 years to this wonderful school for early education, the foundation of any school, are the teachers, and this school has the most wonderful and experienced teachers, who have shown great kindness and loving care while teaching children. Each year, from the 2s class to Jr Kindergarten, we observed our daughter learn so many wonderful things at gingerbread, from hand signs, to using the scissors, to learning to color, understanding patterns, developing an interest in cooking, they have a cooking class in the Jr K, and the list goes on; and a significant role was played by the teachers and the designed curriculum, from teaching her the right way to hold a pencil, to sitting criss cross, art work, projects, group play and activities, every day bringing back tons of activity sheets, outdoor play and snow day activities, kids appeared really happy and energized as they came outside after school. We are very thankful to Mrs Anders, Mrs Patellos, Mrs Hallam, Mrs Kraft, Mrs Savery, and of all Mrs Kopecky for their wonderful teaching and kindness. Only thing I wish for was that there were programs for more number of days in the week; although we did manage to pair up another wonderful school on the other days; also the clubhouse program they have is wonderful, and our daughter enjoyed that for more than a year. The list can go on and on, one cant summarize so many great things in a few paragraphs, we are indebted to Gingerbread and Mrs Kopecky.

My daughter was bullied the whole school year at this school by another student. The teachers and the owner were aware and never reached out to me about it. They claimed to have dealt with the student and his mother, only heaven knows if they actually did considering the could not inform me what my daughter was going through. Secondly, the teachers in the new school year do-not listen to kids and sent my daughter to go eat food that fell to the floor. When asked one said they did not know-coz they would listen to the child and the other lied to me with a twisted account of events. I pulled my daughter without hesitation. No remorse, no accountability for the teachers and the owner. Its all about them. Dont be fooled by the smiles at the front door. Its either they are plainly horrible or are racist. In response to this womans feedback, its repulsive that she continues to lie and attack as she did before let alone call me and my child a liar when my evince is in my email in addition to verbal communications I had with her teachers including herself. The most responsible to run a business is to own ones mistakes then aim to do better. Obviously, this does it look good on her business but the truth has to be told so another child does not have to go through this. My child never required special attention I. This school. She go the least of it if any. I had to keep an eye on things because my child told me what was happening. Children being sat in time out for saying there is a fly in school etc. this is crazy! Her teachers told me my child was bullied through out the school year by a specific kid. The incident I personally observed was a week before school closed and it was only that day that her teachers mentioned to me it was not the first time and the the director lie teacher had several conferences with the child and his mother over the behavior to the extent of the suggesting he might need help. If she was responsible or cared, she would have reached out to me to let me know what has been going on regarding the bullying and at least note that she was handling the issue on the issues. If my daughter never told me and coincidently the referred incident happened in my presence at which then I inquired, I would never had known. This never happened. Maybe bullying is not tolerated in her school but not for black kids. But I will leave it here. No one changes what they do not acknowledge. Therefore, its a matter of time before.

We chose Gingerbread House because it has been part of the Zionsville community for many, many years, they have very convenient and helpful hours, and for the wonderful teachers for the kids.  My child was in a PreK class where she was prepared to independently learn for kindergarten and also be a good friend to her classmates.  The kids were taught by loving teachers who truly got to know each child (even through the COVID-19 quarantine!).

We were fortunate enough to have each of our boys attend Gingerbread House Preschool for two years. Our first son was prepared for the academic side of it, but he really needed the social aspect as he wasnt around a lot of family and friends and he was able to get acclimated to school with ease thanks to the Gingerbread House staff and class and has truly excelled as he is about to start middle school now. I honestly had my concerns for our second son, but with the help of the Gingerbread House staff I am so thrilled with how far he has come both academically and socially as he now prepares for kindergarten. The school does a great job with these kids and they genuinely care about them and it really pays off for us as parents. Its so neat to see all of the things they make and how excited they are to tell you about their day. They helped set up our boys for success in school and beyond and we highly recommend Gingerbread House Preschool. Sincerely, Zachary and Ryane Edsall

Business Response on Google Sep 7th, 2023
Bullying is not tolerated at Gingerbread House Preschool. In our school, when a student directs unkind words to another student, the teachers intervene. They explain to the offending student that such behavior is unacceptable, and an apology is immediately required. With 2 highly educated experienced teachers in every classroom of 12 students our preschool is much better staffed to prevent bullying than most schools. If a child drops food on the floor at snack time or lunch time he/she is asked to throw it in the trash. We would never ask a child to eat something off the floor. The students at Gingerbread House Preschool are racially and ethnically very diverse. We celebrate diversity and strive to be anti-racist.This student made tremendous progress last year and so far this year both academically and in her social interactions with her classmates and her teachers. We wish her continued success in the future.Sue Kopecky, teacher and director
