Breakfast staff was great. Room was dirty, and the chlorine smell from the lobby does deep into the rooms as well. The desk staff does not assist with minor issues they ultimately can. Not terribly, but there are better Hiltons in Des Moines for similar pricing.

I booked this hotel even after reading the negative reviews, hoping it wasn't as bad as people have said. Unfortunately, it was also my experience. The rooms are in desperate need of updating. We immediately had to call maintenance as the shower curtain bar was broken off, and the curtain wouldn't close. The couches and chairs were filthy and stained, and there was dust on everything. In addition, there was a shirt left in the closet from the previous guest. Housekeeping must not do anything but change the sheets. The grossest part was my daughter ran up and grabbed the light post to turn it on, and it had spots of red liquid on it, which I'm hoping wasn't blood. I took a damp tissue from the bathroom to wipe it off because I was grossed out. I mean how hard is it for Housekeeping to wash down the surfaces of the rooms after a guest. In conclusion, it's right downtown which is nice but I would not ever stay here again unless these issues were addressed. This has been the worst embassy suites we have ever stayed in.

Noisy, worn out, disappointing. Was probably spectacular in the mid-2000's, but now needs a complete overhaul. Lots of problems. Front desk staff gives poor customer service, I felt like they'd rather be talking amongst themselves and I was simply an inconvenience to them. Food service staff were polite, and the breakfast was decent. It gave me worn-out-casino vibes and made me sad and embarrassed FOR them. The security lock on my door was broken, some of my lights never worked, 1/3 of the elevators were out of service, there were holes, peeling wallpaper, chipped paint and finishes, DIRTY carpet, and broken and rusty light fixtures throughout the entire hotel. I was there with a work group of 20 and they all corroborated these details in their rooms as well as the meeting room we used. My bathroom sink literally had a part fall off while I was using it. There were LOUD persistent clanking sounds, and an insane rhythmic mechanical pounding in the ceiling one morning at 7am that woke me from a dead sleep WHILE I WAS WEARING EARPLUGS, that lasted for 30 minutes. I didn't bother to complain while i was there, as I'd already been treated as a nuisance and i didn't feel like wasting my time waiting for more sub par service or to be told these are longstanding issues that nobody there could fix within the timeframe of my stay. This place needs to be GUTTED, as well as mostly re-staffed.
