They withheld my security deposit after charging me several times a normal water bill for my last month, charging me for the week after my move out date. They decided that wasn't enough money for their seemingly impossibly expensive water bill so they sent it to collections. They also attempted to charge us trash fees that were in violation of the lease terms, and we had to point out to them that this was in violation of the contract for them to take it off. In general they are unscrupulous landlords and will use dishonest tactics to steal your money. I would not recommend living here.

I have lived here for about 18 months at this point and have tried to give this complex more than enough slack before posting any review. Also please note the number of real reviews really weighing in on the issues here. The general score of 4/5 stars is not how this place is viewed by actual tenants. If you would like to live in a small apartment and pay too much to live in an unsafe area, this is the place for you. The general area around is not the greatest to live in as you will have to traverse areas filled with shady characters to get to any of the nice parts of town that the apartment is situated near. On top of that, you can look forward to having packages stolen and your car broken into. Dont worry though, the apartment complex has almost no security features because of the owning company, Greystar. Even after 30 cars were broken into in a single day, Greystar fought tooth and nail to not have to add any added security to the complex. Rather they blamed the people who parked at their own complex. I have now had 7 packages stolen from my front door within a few months. They have a handful of cameras located only at a few entrances/exits and the elevators. The staff here are fantastic but the company that owns this company does not care. You can see from other reviews as well I am not alone in my experience with theft at this place. There are a number of more modern complexes across the tracks that are around the same price range but do not have to deal with the same level of theft, breakins or generally unsafe streets. The only saving grace was the front office staff and maintenance. They really try to help and maintenance does a fantastic job and responds in a very timely manner. I recommend you explore all those options first before attempting to live here.

In middle of Durham downtown, with dull grey buildings and parking lots around. Far from everything.
