Stayed here a couple of weeks back last minute, the place was awesome, staff were really helpful and I felt like an old friend. Our room was clean in new nautical themed decor and had great AC. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for a wonderful Euro-style antidote to the hermetically sealed corporate hotel you will find it here. I had a cute, comfortable, and clean room. The inkeeper's charm and extraordinarily accommodating and generous nature was a pleasant experience. I would not recommend the breakfast. It was delicious and reasonably priced. But in typical US style they kept asking to take my plate when it was clear I was still eating. I got up to refill my coffee and returned to a bare table. Then I was told that I could take my coffee to go but they needed my table. I understand limited seating but what made this so obnoxious was the fact that there was a a long family style table with at least 8 empty places and I had only been there 15 minutes.

The quality of the room was not as expected. The room was very small and although I asked for a 2nd or upper floor and back side of house I was placed in a 1st floor back and was told as you requested by the innkeeper as I checked in. The rug was very dirty with dark brown spots which didnt convey confidence in the deep cleaning I would expect. The carpet was vey old and needed replacing. The baseboard heat panels were falling off again showing lack of details. We were instructed to call a number before 7 pm to order the full breakfast. I tried calling and was told that person will be in in 30 minutes and to call back. At our dinner I called just before 7pm and the person told they were busy and shed call me back. At 7:30 she called back and I asked for an 8:30 am time-slot but was told it was not available. I asked for a breakfast refund 12.50 each) on both days. We left a day early as the room was an issue and there was no other outdoor space to relax and we ended up sitting in the church stoop with a drink later that evening. Our room could use some updates and we expected a bit more ambiance and while the website showed no outdoor space which is accurate, a few benches/chairs is not unreasonable.

This Inn is fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful from Otillia at check in, Neal who makes the most incredible eggs, to John and of course Rick the proprietor who is so knowledgable about the area. These are folks who live in the area and take pride in the Inn. The rooms are elegant, clean, which is so important in these times. The Inn is 1 block from Thames St. which makes walking through this historic district just wonderful . You are missing an incredible experience if you don't stay here. We return often and have NEVER been disappointed.
