Budget Car Rental

A terrible experience with citadel mall budget rental. They did not have the truck we reserved and kept us waiting over an hour only to be told we had to drive to Rivers Ave to pick up the truck there. The girl employee was uninterested in being courteous or helpful. She also gave us the wrong address on Rivers; it took us 3.5 miles out of the way while our movers were waiting on us at the storage facility. A stressful start to the moving day to say the least. I would not recommend this location at all. Poor attitude, poor work, and unprofessional.

We had a very bad experience at this location today. The lady working there told us that she didnt have a car of the category we booked or a smaller one available at the location which is already kinda weird because we had booked it in advance and there was no information that there would be no available car. As we are under 24 we were also not allowed to get a bigger car. She said that there would be a suitable car at the downtown location. She didnt want to change the pick up location in our reservation so we had to do it ourselves on our mobile phones right next to her. When we finally sorted it out she suddenly said that there was no suitable car at the downtown location either and that we would have to go to the airport. We then asked her to call her colleagues at the airport to confirm there would be a car available for us so that we wouldnt waste our time going there for nothing. She refused that. We also asked if her company would pay for the taxi ride to another pick up location as it was not our fault that Budget didnt provide a suitable car which was refused as well. Luckily, a male colleague arrived then and took over from her. Within five minutes, we sorted everything out and got a very nice car. I would give five stars for this gentleman, but the lady working there is the most incompetent person Ive ever seen at a car rental. It would have been no problem at all if the lady just provided us with proper assistance to solve the problem and helped us get a car, but she did literally nothing to help and would have sent us across Charleston and waste a lot of vacation time for nothing. It is not acceptable to treat paying customers with zero customer orientation and I would advise everyone to pick up a car at the airport and avoid this location if the lady is on duty.
