Travelodge Morgantown

Do not stay here in the winter. The rooms are drafty and the heater will not compensate for this. The heater is undersized and too loud so you won't get any sleep at night. Also, the internet is unreliable. I would advise having access to a smartphone if you plan on staying here.

I made a reservation months in advance for this hotel. Due to a family emergency, a funeral, I had to cancel my reservation. I pulled up the info in the email and it stated that the cancellation policy is two weeks in advance. I missed the cutoff for the cancellation policy by 12 hours. I didn't call to cancel the day of, the day before or even the week before. I called 13 days prior to my reservation. First, when you call, you are put through to a national line. So after explaining to them, they said they would contact the hotel about the cancellation policy. The national line was very friendly. She came back on the line and said she spoke to the hotel and they would still charge me for one night. She gave me the hotel number direct at my request. I called the hotel and a man answered. I asked him about the cancellation policy and he immediately went on the defensive. He said that he had just spoken to someone about my reservation. I explained my situation and he just kept interrupting me to tell me that this is the policy and that I would be charged. I requested to speak to a manager to which he replied that he was the owner of the hotel and the GM. Ok great, so I explained that I missed the deadline by less than 12 hours because I was making funeral arrangements the previous day and he just kept interrupting and telling me that I would still be charged. I then told them that I thought that was a terrible policy and that I would be sure to review and blog about it. I went ahead and cancelled the room and will be charged for one night at a rate of $214.64 for a room that I cannot use. This is where things really took an interesting turn. He THREATENED ME!!!! He actually said to me "Well mam, before you go and do something stupid, we will come after you".....this is the OWNER of the hotel? The MANAGER? I told him, that I had every right to blog and review and that I had no intention of lying about my experience (I certainly don't have to) and that I would like to see him COME AFTER ME for writing the truth of my experience. Unbelievable. I am appalled at the customer service, not because he wouldn't cancel my room no charge but because He was rude, interrupting me and then threatened me. Do not stay at this hotel lest you "offend" the owner. He may come after you too.

Be very aware of their ridiculous 14-day cancellation policy. Reserved through Priceline and the reservation confirmation clearly states a 1-day cancellation policy, however, when called to cancel a week in advance they informed us we have to cancel two weeks out. Ending up cancelling through Priceline and was told everything was fine and we could cancel and not be charged through their policy. The hotel ended up charging us anyhow for one night and they had to confirm the Priceline cancellation policy to get us a refund. Priceline having the wrong information for their hotel is not my fault and should have been refunded no questions asked. The general manager was not helpful or understanding at all over the phone and argued about the cancellation policy. Terrible way to do business and will never make a reservation there again or stay at this place.
